‘Magic’al Europe – Day 4

Day 4 of our Europe trip loomed, and the longingly awaited cruise would be setting sail today! As a result, we had to get up early to get ready for the cruise. Grabbing a bite from the nearby McDonalds early in the morning before heading to the Bus Stop that would take us to the Ferry Terminal. After a 25 minute wait at the bus stop, which we spent sitting around with our luggage, the bus arrived and we took the long bus ride to the ferry terminal, where the Disney Magic awaited our arrival.

When we finally arrived at the bus stop, it was still a 10 minute walk away from where the Magic was docked at. Amazingly, out here at the docks, there was still a dedicated lane on the roads for bicycles to cycle on. Copenhagen is truly a bicycle-friendly city. It was also right next to the bus door exit, so we had to be careful not to get run over by any bicycles. Luckily, nothing out-of-the-ordinary happened and we got to take some photos of the Magic before even getting on!

At the Terminal, we had to wait about 30 minutes as we over-estimated the time needed to get to the terminal, we spent it outside admiring the sheer size of the Disney Magic. Even though it is the smallest cruise ship that Disney operates, it is still huge up close, and an engineering marvel. We took the time to find where our room was from the outside, which was effectively a porthole room, which we got for cheap due to it being partially obscured. However, it really wasn’t and we were ecstatic when we finally found our room, and how little it was obscured from the outside.

Soon, we were on-board after settling all the logistics and picking up our stuff. As the rooms weren’t ready just yet, we headed to Carioca’s for a quick lunch buffet. As usual, the spread was amazing and the food quality was good (which should be no surprise for anything Disney at this point.) We took the time to take some photos and settle down after an early morning.

After lunch, our room was finally ready and it was really as amazing inside as it was outside. The view from our window was amazing and hardly blocked by anything at all. The room was spacious and comfortably fit all four of us, with the bunk bed being hidden from view until a crew member comes and assembles it for you before night time. It really is hard to beat the pure simplicity and neatness of Disney’s thoughfulness when they come through and design their rooms.

After a short rest in the room, we went to the Sailing Away Party, and (of course) stopped for some ice-cream along the way. More Free Food!

Soon, it was show time. Disney offers two dinner timings, of which we took the later one. This allowed us to watch the Dinner show first, followed by dinner. This turned out to be a good decision, as the theater was less full, and allowed us some time to digest our food from lunch. Here, we were introduced to our extremely charismatic and charming cruise director, Clayton Lindsey, who vouched to perform a dance for us every night.

After the show, we headed to the main lobby, where other activities awaited us. We took a photo with Minnie, one of the many characters that are around and about in the ship, and also took some family photos together, an activity that we would end up repeating several times throughout the trip as they have unique backgrounds for all the destinations on the trip. It’s the small touches that really make Disney activities that little bit more special.

For dinner, we headed to Lumiere’s, one of the several restaurants located within the Disney Magic. Due to the system that Disney employs, the servers will move around the several restaurants with you, so the same server serves you throughout the trip. In similar grandeur, our table was set and we could order more food than we could ever wish for, one appetiser or soup, one main and one desert, with a drink of your choice of course. We ordered the Conchiglie Pasta, the Rack of Lamb and the Fillet Steak. All of them were delicious and were no different from the quality we came to expect of food provided on a Disney Cruise. We were also introduced to our main server, Juan from Colombia, who was simply amazing. Over the next few days, he remembered our favourite breads and food items, and gave us recommendations that catered to our personal tastes and preferences.

After dinner, we were all understandably exhausted, and we all settled into bed, where I occupied the strangely comfortable bottom sofa bed. We awaited the next day of our Disney Magic Adventure, and the remainder of our trip.
