Let The Memories Begin! – Day 2
We started off our day having the free breakfast at Drury again. The spread was the same but we are not sick of it just yet.
Our first stop today is to head to Target. ZA found out that the stroller we wanted to get is available at Target. We wanted to get the stroller ASAP so that Ashley can rest in it and we can move together instead of waiting for her to take rest stops. Upon arrival at Target, Ashley was distracted by the toys department and picked a singing Ariel necklace and an Aurora doll. We found the stroller – The First Year Ignite which can take weight up to 50lbs.
We drove past Golfsmith and ZA stopped by to get some golf balls for Jarod and some golf tape which is not available in Singapore.
Next, we stopped by Krispy Kreme and ordered a dozen of donuts for take-out. Even though Krisp Kreme is finally opened in Singapore, we have yet to lay our hands on them, being deterred by the long queue and high price. It’s US$8.99 a dozen here. Ashley also witnessed the baking process for the donuts and found it ‘cool’.
We wanted to grab a quick lunch at Five Guys. However, Ashley is adamant that she wants macaroni and cheese again today. So we decided on The Cheesecake Factory. After circling round a few times, we gave up as there is no sign of the restaurant there. So, we settled for The Longhorn Steakhouse which has mac n cheese on their kids’ menu. All 3 of us ordered steak. The steak is really good for its price and we might dine here again if we have time.
The weather in Orlando has been much hotter than what we have expected due to the freak storms at the east coast. This is one of the reasons we feel more tired than we should.
We have made reservations at The Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament at 6pm. There was a traffic congestion on our way there. We arrived at the Orlando castle, checked in and were assigned the Green table no. 1, which is the front row and given green crowns. This is a dinner show with 6 knights donning armour, clash in a jousting tournament for the title of King’s champion.
Before the show started, Ashley was very cranky due to lack of sleep. However, once the show started, she was drawn into it and woke up. She bought a green flag to support our Green Knight. The dinner started with tomato bisque and garlic bread. We cheered as the Green Knight rode in front of our table, he had with him 3 stalks of flowers. He threw 2 to the back and Ashley was really trying to catch one. As he is left with the last flower, he rode up to Ashley and handed it to her. Ashley was ecstatic! In the meantime, we were served roasted chicken, ribs and potato. We were so engrossed with the show that we hardly remembered to eat our food. The Knights played some tournament games and our Knight emerged first. We were then told that the Knight will present a Queen of Tournament sash to a special someone. To our pleasant surprise, he stopped in front of Ashley and presented her the sash on a spear. The audience were all cheering for her and the surprise look on Ashley’s face was priceless! The photographer helped her put on her sash and took pictures of her and us as family. We of course bought this photo package at USD 20. After which, more fighting amongst the Knights continued until the winner emerged. Ashley was really hoping that our Knight would win and he did not disappoint!
Ashley who had been showered by so much attention by the Knight said that she would definitely watch The Medieval Times again should she returns to Orlando. We enjoyed the experience and it is truly a ‘knight’ to remember!
