Let The Memories Begin! – Day 1
Today is our shopping day. We decided that we should take it easy and started our day having breakfast at Drury which is complementary for all hotel guests.
The buffet spread is not too bad and we loved the scrambled eggs. While we were enjoying our breakfast, the hotel manager, Lou came by to say hello. Ashley was wearing a Belle dress and he started talking to her about princesses. He could not believe that she knew all the princesses and started quizzing her about Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White and Tiana etc. He was totally impressed and walked away promising to return to get her with a more challenging question. When he did return moments later, he asked her which is the princess in the story with a character named Abu. This is a piece of cake for Ashley as she loves to watch Aladdin. He later promised Ashley if she could name another princess which they have not mentioned, he would crown her the princess of Drury. Ashley took on the challenge readily and in no time, she figured out who the princess is and couldn’t wait to tell him the answer. As we finished our breakfast, Ashley caught sight of Lou and told him it was Mulan excitedly. Lou was again impressed and told her he meant it when he told her about making her the princess. He returned in a moment with a tiara and officially crowned her the Princess. Ashley was extremely delighted.
First stop of the day is to hit Orlando Premium Outlet at Vineland. Ashley had to visit the toy store first. She left with two Anna dolls from Frozen. We visited Levi’s Nike, Coach, Adidas etc. Ashley appeared to be tired despite a good night’s sleep so we left for lunch. We had intended to visit The Cheesecake Factory today but Ashley wanted Macaroni and Cheese. We had to change our plans and headed to Joe’s Crab Shack.
The restaurant was rather empty perhaps because it was already 2.30pm. Our server, Matt was very good at recommending dishes to try. We decided to get an appetiser sampler, a jumbo shrimp and a bucket of queen crab to share. Not to mention, Ashley had the Macaroni and Cheese. We enjoyed our lunch, especially throwing the crab shells into the metal bucket. The food was really good; the crab and prawn were fresh and sweet. After lunch, Ashley went to the playgound outside the restaurant.
We left for Walmart next to stock up on groceries and pharmaceutical items. We had wanted to get a stroller but could not find something suitable. By now, Ashley was getting really tired and so we returned to our hotel. We decided not to go out for dinner and had the Free Kickback offered at Drury in the evenings. We had some hot dogs and penne with meatballs. Ashley went to sleep without dinner.
After watching the fireworks, we called it a day and went to bed.
