Danang Day 3
This would be the third day of our trip to Vietnam, and it unfortunately did not start excellently. We headed down for the breakfast as usual, and it was good, and we also had our fair share of Vietnamese Iced Coffee with milk, but we were then informed by the front desk that our tour of the Organic Farm has been cancelled as they could not come in touch with the people who were manning the tour. However, the concierge was nice enough to actually drop us in the farm itself so that we can have our own little look around the farm, which was nice. At the farm, there were many variations of vegetables in small amounts, and a fence of ducks and goats. It was a small, cutdown version of a real farm, but it gives fantastic insight to the various plants and crops that they grow locally. After awhile, the buggy had arrived again and we were soon on our way back to the hotel.
We had some time to kill before we could get some lunch, so we decided to use some of the hotel facilities before heading back to the room. I especially liked the pool table as it is normally unoccupied and is relatively quiet around it. It was a good time to practice playing pool as I normally do not have the opportunity to do so. Soon, we were back in the room, and changed into our swimwear as we wanted to head to the huge main pool of the Angsana resort.
This pool, we were informed as 300 meters long! This body of water crosses and weaves through the entire resort, going from one end to the other, even offering a pool bar in the middle of the route. This made it a prime location for us to spend some time relaxing before going up and taking some time out in the room.
We decided to skip lunch today as none of us were really that hungry, and decided to go out of the resort for once for our dinner. We booked transportation out of the hotel, which was harder than you might imagine, as the closest main road to the resort was a miserable 22 kilometers away! Fortunately, booking of the transport was easy as it was through the concierge and we were soon ready to go for our dinner. We were on our way to Viet Long, a floating restaurant that was about 30 minutes outside our hotel in the region of Danang. This place was unique and really cute for us as it was built on half platforms, half sampans, and the whole thing felt so nostalgic. We felt so much more at home at such a casual place compared to the high-class accommodations we were treated to at the resorts. Before we were even seated, there wasn’t a real menu to choose from. Instead, we peered into plastic buckets of seafood and eagerly calculated the prices of all the seafood that were on offer. We finally agreed on Grouper, Prawn, Snails and an offering of fried noodles for sharing. The dinner was good and the atmosphere was beautiful. We were seating on top a platform which itself is balanced upon two sampans. There was also a company having a company dinner as well. The dinner, albeit a little pricey was well worth the trip outside the resort, and we were soon on our way back. We stopped by a nearby mini-mart on the way back, and besides some language border issues, we bought some drinks back to the hotel for the next day.
After such a hectic day, we settled in for the night, hoping for even more activities which will come the coming days.
(ZA : We even squeeze a couple of games of pool)
