Let The Memories Live Again! – Day 22
Today was our Animal Kingdom Day. The others had woken up early to go to the resort foodcourt- Old Port Royale Food Court, where they bought 2 Bounty Platters and a Cinnamon Bun to go. The cast member there was very nice, and gave Ashley a Mickey straw and some stickers. I had woken up by then, and ate the Cinnamon Bun for my breakfast. This was when we realised that Neighboring rooms were decked out in Christmas decorations. We decided that we would do the same if we would ever be given the chance. Today we would be going to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This would be the first time we would be going there on our trip due to our tight schedule. Unfortunately, this also meant that this would be the only day we would be visiting the Animal Kingdom.
After entering the park, we headed to “The Dinosaur”. This was a high speed ride inside a time-travelling buggy. I wanted to ride this first as the last time, the ride had some technical issues which denied us from taking it. Remembering that I loved the ride the first time we were there, I opted to visit it first. The interior of the ride building was very well done, with fossils of Dinosaurs, complete with descriptions. These definitely made the queue shorter for us, as we were endlessly intrigued by the artifacts on display. The ride didn’t take long as we had a fastpass for it. Soon, we were inside the “briefing room”, before heading out onto the ride. The ride was still the same as last time, and we enjoyed it very much.
Next, they went to Expedition Everest – Legend of The Forbidden Mountain which I didn’t ride as I still wasn’t feeling very well from yesterday. I instead had a nice ice-cream at the entrance of the ride, which was delicious. They later told me that they loved the ride very much, and wanted to go again.
Afterwards, we headed towards Killimanjaro Safari. This was a Safari tour around the grounds of the Animal Kingdom. This was one of my favorite rides as it wasn’t on rails. The trucks and the animals were very much real, and it was amazing to see the amount of wildlife that Disney has on the ground. We saw some crocodiles, Jaguars, Lions, Elephants and more on our trip. I found this ride to be one of my favorites inside the Disney compound.
Afterwards, they went back for Expedition Everest again for another time around the Forbidden Mountain before heading for lunch. We headed for Yak and Yeti, where we ordered Honey Chicken and Curry Chicken. We substituted the desserts with sides, which were the egg roll and Chicken Fried Rice. Ashley had Chicken Tenders there. Besides a small incident where we spilled a drink onto the food, we enjoyed the food quite abit, and it was impressive for a quick service lunch. Although I enjoyed my Chicken Curry, my mom wasn’t a fan of it. It was more of a stew than curry I suppose.
After lunch, we had fun playing games at Dino Rama, where I won 2 plushies at the Comet Charger, ZA won a big bear at a basketball game, and I was the winner of the Whack A Mole contest, winning a Dinosaur. This was well worth the $15 we spent on the tickets for the games. We had tons of fun, and Ashley got to go home with more toys.

Next, we headed to Primeval Whirl, where we took two rounds of it. The first time, I was riding alone in one section of the ride vehicle. This flung me around the vehicle, and I recall it being extremely terrifying. The second time, I was leaning against Ashley, and the ride was substantially less scary. The ride had a very retro-future theme to it, which was cute. With more people adopting this style in the current day, I wonder if this would become commonplace in Singapore.
Afterwards, we watched the Festival of The Lion King, a show that many people said was the best in Disney’s compound. The show included singing, dancing and acrobatics, and it was a lot of fun. However, as they were moved from their original theater, some of the kinks could be better ironed out. The audience had to wait about 10 minutes in their seats when the show ended, as they had to keep all the huge props that they were using during the show. However, we still enjoyed ourselves very much. Before heading off to “It’s Tough to be a Bug”, we relaxed at Starbucks, where we got a Black Tea Lemonade and Cake Pop. We liked the tea so much that we bought another two to share.
Next, we headed to the tree of life, where we got to watch my favorite 3-D show, It’s Tough to be a Bug! This show Incorporated clever use of smells, sounds and feels to really immerse yourself into thinking you are in a bug’s world. My favorite part was at the end, where they pretended to have bugs crawling on your seat by blowing air out of the seats. It was a very good show. Before heading off once again, we got a baked Lobster Mac and Cheese from a food stand. Their RFID chip wasn’t working, so they had to write down the serial number of my fastpass band, but all was well. We got the Mac and Cheese, and it was delicious for a snack credit, well worth the stop. Unfortunately, we were all pretty full, so we didn’t really eat the Mac N Cheese. Ashley enjoyed it a lot though.
For the last show of the day, we headed to Finding Nemo, the Musical. This was by far my personal favorite show in Disney. We lined up early to get good seats for the show, and it was worth it. We also looked out for the actors, and realised that they were the same people. We wondered if they did this show all year round, for the past three years. The show was amazing, and we were able to experience it from good seats. We enjoyed this show, and I still place this show above the others in the Animal Kingdom.
Before heading off, they had one last go at Expedition Everest, before we met back at the entrance and headed to Cape May Cafe for dinner. Cape May was a place that I also wanted to visit as I enjoyed it thoroughly the first time I was there. They had a lot of seafood on offer, from crab legs to fried fish. However, this time, the calamari wasn’t present, and I didn’t get to enjoy it. Nevertheless, it was very enjoyable, and I drank almost 5 glasses of Pomegranate Lemonade, which was very funny at the time.
After dinner, we headed to Toys R Us to pick up a toy for Ashley before finally heading off towards the Hotel. It had been a long day, and we needed some rest.
