Let The Memories Live Again! – Day 16
Today would be our first proper Epcot day. Although we had visited Epcot yesterday, we only stayed for awhile due to us spending the rest of it at the Magic Kingdom. So, we broke out the Stroller and braved the walking ahead. The weather was extremely hot, but we knew that there would be a spite of relief later on, as the forecast said that the weather was about to cool just a few days from now. We skipped the Fastpass for Spaceship Earth when we entered, and instead replaced it for more Fastpasses at Test Track. This was a good opening move as it ensured more “Tier 1” fastpasses for us, allowing us to repeat rides that we actually want to do, rather than take some that we aren’t that interested in doing.
After that success, we headed to Sunshine Seasons in the Land. This was our favourite breakfast place as it had affordable breakfast platters and extremely delicious snack credit desserts. We had 2 Adult Breakfast Platers and a Strawberry Shortcake. However, the Iced Coffee that we also liked was not available as the machine was down. The breakfast was still as good as always, and we enjoyed the platter.
Next, we headed to Test Track. I was going to go for my goal of getting Top Design of the day again, but realised that it would be a longshot. My best designs capped out at 221, while a winning design would easily hit 225 points. This didn’t matter much as the internal ride was a s good as ever. Although I suspect they increased the amount of ride cars, ruining the “launching” experience a little due to the delay between cars. The ride was as good as always however, and I enjoyed coming back to this ride.
Next, Mission Space, which I opted out of. I realised on this trip that I have quite an issue dealing with Motion Sickness, so I decided that it was probably a good idea for me to skip doing this ride altogether. However, to my dismay, I learnt that the ride wasn’t too intensive if I’d had taken the Green side, which didn’t include G forces. This was sad, as my Dad said I would have enjoyed the ride thoroughly. I was keen to do it another time.
For lunch, we decided to have it outside Epcot. We boarded the Friendship Boat from International Gateway and headed to the Broadwalk. This was another resort just outside Epcot, and it surrounded a lake. It was very pretty, but we didn’t come here to sightsee. Instead, we went to Broadwalk Bakery, where we loaded ourselves with Lobster Rolls with Minestrone and Choice of Dessert. I took the Oreo Cupcake, while my parents had the Tiramisu and the Brownie Cheesecake. The food was nice, but we were too spoiled from the dining experience at Lobster Me! to enjoy this as much as we could have. Nevertheless, another plus side was that we collected our Resort Mugs there, making it a very worthwhile trip.
We then headed to Disney’s Beach Club to Conquer the Mighty Kitchen Sink. The Kitchen Sink was a huge sink (literally!) filled with all the goodies you could ever imagine. Inside the sink, there were 10 scoops of Ice-Cream of varying flavours, Mars Bars, Snickers Bars and Brownies, all topped with a whole can of Whipped Cream. This was one of the most enjoyable things I’ve done. When the Kitchen Sink came out, the lights in the restaurant went out and an alarm played. The server for us announced to the whole cafe about what we were going to do, and introduced the Kitchen Sink to the rest of the guests. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Before heading back to Epcot, we decided to spend some time at the Arcade, which was fitted with a mix of new and old machines. Spanning the 80’s with Galaca and Pac-Man to 2012, with Nascar machines. I enjoyed this experience as well, but the arcade could have more machines for better diversity.
We then walked back to Epcot and went onto Test Track. This would be the second time that we would be on Test Track, but unfortunately it didn’t go as planned. The ride broke down when we were on it, and we were stuck at a 45 degree angle for about 20 minutes. Fortunately, the Cast Member came with Paper Fastpasses and freed us from the car. It was our first time experiencing a major ride breakdown, and this was an eye opening experience at Disney as we were able to see the workings behind Test Track for abit. We were evacuated through Route B.
Next, we scrabled to dinner at Rose And Crown Dining Room, where we got our requested Outoodr Patio Table. We even got the lower level, closest to the lake. We ordered Soctch Eggs, Steak and Fish, and Fish and Chips. The steak was the most surprising as it was really good. We thought that it wouldn’t be nearly as good as the quality that we got. The dessert however wasn’t really good. It was okay, with our favourite being the Sticky Toffee Tart.
We then enjoyed a lake side Illuminations, which was vastly different from the standard show. It being the Holiday special, alot more fireworks were being used, and it was much grander than usual. It was an extremely nice show and a good experience for us, as we didn’t see this variant of Illuminations before. We left for the hotel and braced for another long day tomorrow. There aren’t any breaks during the Disney stretch after all!
