Let The Memories Live Again! – Day 9
Today would be the ninth day of our vacation, and it would be the day we visit Universal Studios. Universal Studios was a smaller park compared to the Disney ones, but it was one of the places we wanted to visit as it was built at the Universal Lot, where real movies and TV Shows were being made. We drove the car to Universal, and took the long walk. Of course, we couldn’t resist but take a picture at the Universal Globe before entering.
Upon entering, we immediately went to the back lot to visit the Universal Studios backlot tour, where we could visit the real Universal lot. We entered a tram filled with people and were treated to real props and Cinema making material. Ranging from Special effects to 360 degree 3D Environments from Skull Island and Fast and Furious, we enjoyed the ride very much. We also got the chance to spot many movie props such as Hero Cars from movies, real props and recreations of iconic movie items such as the Jaws Shark and Norman from Psycho. It was as good as I remember it, however, we were left with very few things to do.
We grabbed a Donut at Simpsons land before we left. Dubbed the “Big Pink”, it was a replica of the iconic Simpsons donut from Lard Lad’s. We headed for Waterworld show, which was at the other end of the park.
At Waterworld, we enjoyed the show alot more, due to it’s live vocals and more intense special effects of fire and water. The cast also interacted more, with an opportunity arising to take photos with the cast, but we opted not to due to time constraints.
We then headed back for the tour for a second trip around, due to it being our favourite thing to do in Universal. The trip was even more enjoyable, as our guide talked more about the making of movies, and how many things relate to movie making today, such as the use of Practical props and buildings. This was a more informative tour, and I enjoyed the second tour round as well.
Soon, it was time to leave. (ZA : We had plans to eat at Wolfgang Puck Express. We enjoy eating at Wolfgang Puck Downtown Disney @ Orlando last year and expect to have a good dinner. Wolfgang Puck @ Universal Hollywood did not disappoint. Yummy!)
During the drive back to Fairfield, we encountered a fog alert, which partially blinded the sky and reduced visibility. Being Singaporean, I was very alerted by this situation, but quickly found out that such an occurrence is pretty normal here. Talk about over exaggerating the situation. We checked in to our room yet again for one final night before we head over to Vegas.
(ZA : We even had time to have a quick visit to Target and later on get some Carl’s Junior Burgers for supper…ha ha)
