Let The Memories Live Again! – Day 8
Day Eight of our vacation has arrived. Today, we would be travelling to Disney’s California Adventure. This was the other Disney based park in Anaheim, and we were excited to experience some shows and rides that are not seen in Orlando being here, in Anaheim.
We took the car and rushed to an early fastpass yet again, this time for Cars Radiator Spring Racers. The queue time for this ride is close to two hours long, and we weren’t willing to wait anywhere near that wait time. We took a fastpass for all of us, and headed off to do something else. We took a short time exploring Radiator Springs, which was a splitting image of the town displayed in the animated movie. I enjoyed walking around it, as it was one of my favourite movies growing up.
Next, we then rushed to get yet another fastpass, this time for the water fountain show in California Adventure, World Of Colour. This was a show that is also not seen anywhere else in Disney, and is very popular. Taking the fastpasses for this was critical, and we were then free to do as we please around the park.
Ashley wanted to visit Mickey’s fun wheel, which was a huge ferris wheel around the pier. Since my dad and I are usually very susceptible to motion sickness, we opted out. My mom and Ashley took the ride, and they reported that it was very enjoyable, but that it was a good decision for us not to take the ride, as it swings unpredictably and we would definitely feel it.
Next, we went on Goofy’s Sky School, which was a ride similar to Orlando’s, but it didn’t spin on an axis, rather it was a small roller coaster on tracks. It was fun and not as dizzy as the ride in Orlando, it was enjoyable and fun for all of us.
As it was soon approaching lunch time, we headed to Corn Dog Castle, a shop near Goofy’s Sky School which sells Corn Dogs. We opted for 3 Original Corn Dogs and a Hot Link Corn Dog for myself. We enjoyed the corn dogs, and I preferred the ones here rather than the one in Orlando. We were in for a surprise where the Viva Navidad! parade came right next to us, allowing us to enjoy our meal, and look at the parade as well.
While waiting for our fastpass return for Radiator Springs Racers, my dad and I headed to California Screamin’, a roller coaster which Ashley opted not to take due to the loop in it’s tracks. We were doubtful when we got the first row of the ride, but the both of us enjoyed the ride very much, as it didn’t feel as scary as other rides, but it still offered the right level of thrill. Ashley and my mom opted for a less thrilling ride at The Little Mermaid.
Finally, the fastpass return time came, and we went to Radiator Springs Racers. It was a ride utilizing the same cars and tracks as Test Track. It was a fun and fast ride involving two cars racing, and to our delight, our car won! We decided that it was a fun ride, but not worth the two hour wait if we didn’t have the fastpasses. We stopped for an Ice-Cream break at Cozy Cone Motel before moving on.
We headed to Aladdin’s Show at California Adventure. It was a hilarious adventure with many spontaneous jokes carried out by the Genie and we all had a fun time. The show had many props which impressed us, which involved a fake Elephant and a flying carpet. We decided that this was the best Disney show that we had watched, and we were lucky we caught it before it was going to get replaced.
(ZA : We went around Radiator Springs again and the place really lights up at night. So beautiful!)
Finally, we caught World of Colour, where it was a fantastic water display of colour. We were lucky that we got a seat near the fountain due to the fastpasses we got in the morning. We enjoyed the show very much, although I preferred Illuminations in the Orlando parks. We packed up all our things, and left for the hotel, for tomorrow was the last day we would be in Anaheim.
(ZA : Actually we had dinner at Luigi’s D’Italia before heading back to the hotel. See below)
(ZA : He had dinner at Luigi’s D’Italia. When we were here back in 2007 with JZ, http://anything.i234.me/los-angeles-las-vegas-anaheim-18-nov-to-27-dec-2007/ we ate here and remembered we enjoyed it. Luigi’s D’Italia since then when thru Restaurant Makeover and I think we had moved. Anyway, the calamari was good but I did not enjoy the Vongole. Only have the clams without the shell and the clams somehow taste different without the shell ? …)
