Let The Memories Live Again! – Day 3

Today would be the start of the third day of our vacation in the United States. We walked around the resort we were staying at, Island Palms Resort for one final time before we made the drive up to Los Angeles. We walked along the coast of the Pacific, staring into the distance. Ashley also wanted to visit the playground next to the hotel we were staying at. It was a small and simple playground, but it faced the mouth of the Pacific, so it was equally beautiful. We took one last walk on the Marina and saw a group of ducks in the harbor, which we took some photos of. We waved goodbye to the hotel, and proceeded to the second AM Eatery that we wanted to visit.

We drove to Hash House A Go Go, another AM Eatery that specialises in Brunches. After struggling a few times with finding a spot to park the car, we eventually found a spot right outside the eatery. We took some time to figure out how the parking meter worked, and we walked into the diner. Inside, it was an extremely cozy place with many people inside already enjoying their early morning meals. We ordered some Hashes, Scrambled Eggs for Ashley, and Fried Chicken with Maple for me. The food was too much for all of us, and we left satisfied but extremely filled. I maintain that the Fried Chicken with maple was the most interesting thing I have eaten during the trip, and the taste was both refreshing and delicious. With us filled to the brims, we loaded the car with our leftovers and left to Los Angeles.

We wanted to visit the Farmer’s Market, and Ashley also wanted to visit the American Girl shop in the nearby The Grove. It was another long drive from San Diego up to Los Angeles, taking another 3 hours or so. However, it was pretty uneventful and we soon ended up at the Farmer’s Market. We proceeded to the American Girl outlet first as it was further away from our parking space. Inside was a plethora of dolls of many kinds. Since I’m still disturbed by dolls to a certain extent, it was a little uncomfortable being inside, but I could deal with it. I do understand that the build quality of these dolls are much higher than others however. Ashley grabbed a new outfit for her exising doll, Ashlyn, and we headed off to the farmer’s market.

After a minor hiccup in finding the farmer’s market, we finally got into the actual market. We found it saddening as it was filled with food and snacks, but we were unable to eat any more due to our large and heavy breakfast at Hash House A Go Go (we joked that it should be called Hash House, To Go Go.), and we left without buying any food. We did find some souvenirs however, and that allowed us to get some free parking at the Farmer’s Market.

Next, we headed over to Santa Monica. This was a short stopover before we headed onward towards Anaheim. We stopped by the Beach, near a pier, where we were greeted with amazing sights. We walked towards the end of the pier, where we were able to gaze out to the Pacific Ocean. It was really an amazing sight. Ashley also had the opportunity to ride a Roller Coaster while she was there. Another amazing thing was the number of street performers in the area. It felt like a really happening, lively place, and we enjoyed this stopover. However, because we were so full from our breakfast, we weren’t able to eat dinner here, and decidedly left for Anaheim.

Finally, we started driving towards our next hotel, Fairfield Inn and Suites, located in Anaheim. However, we weren’t ready for LA Traffic. We spent nearly 2 hours in traffic, before deciding that we should probably grab dinner before getting back to the hotel. We then headed to Orange Rolls & Sushi, a Sushi place that we have read about. It was a small place, which was nice and cozy. We ordered some of their sushi creations, namely Knock-Out, Sunrise, Tokyo Spring and Amber. Ashley opted for a more traditional Unagi roll and Udon instead. We enjoyed all the sushi besides the Tokyo Spring, which we felt tasted a little weird. My favorite by far would be Amber, as it reminded me of a old type of sushi that Ichiban used to make.

After dinner, we filled our car back with gas and we headed towards the hotel yet again, checking in and hitting the bed. Another long day was coming, and we needed to catch some well deserved rest.
