Sawadee Phuket! – Day 2
Today was the second day of our trip. We awoke to a buffet breakfast at the hotel, which was actually had a good spread of Thai and Western food alike. Although the online reviews stated that the spread was basic, we decided that the spread was very decent, and that there was no shortage of good food around. There was even Sunny-Side Ups and Omelets alongside Thai food like Pineapple rice and Green Curry. (ZA : There are Miso Soup, Yu Tiao , Soya Milk, Yellow Rice , Aloo Bhaji to cater for the international guests. The selection is quite good and I like the egg to order section plus the dried fruits where I can get the dried mango and guava. The only negative for me is that the juices are too sweet).
After the highly satisfying meal, my Mom actually met her old friend from VJC at the restaurant. After that, we headed to the pool for some swimming and relaxing. The pool of Novotel is actually the biggest in Potong. My mom met up with her friend again for a chat while my sister and I swam around the pool. We also had a session at the pool bar, where we ordered fish fingers and some soft drinks. This pool bar was much bigger than the one that I had seen on the last trip to Phuket. We were also able to have the opportunity to try the “water walker”. Unfortunately, both Ashley and I were unable to conduct the Water Walker, as we were both unable to stand inside the ball. After that , we relaxed in the room before heading out for lunch.
For lunch, we headed out to No.9 2nd Restaurant. It was quite a walk away from the hotel, about 750m away from the hotel. Nevertheless, we headed there on foot, undeterred. When we reached, the restaurant had a wide selection of food, from Western to Japanese and also local food. We opted for a local course consisting of Green Curry, Tom Yum and Soft Shell Crabs. Ashley went for her choice of …
we all enjoyed our food, and especially the desert of Banana Split.
We headed back to the hotel, had a short break and headed out again to Phuket Town Night Market. There, there was a wide selection of shops from shops selling apparel to food. We walked around the market for a while before taking some food to bring back to the hotel. The Taxi cost was around 20 SGD for one-way to and from the night market. Brining the food back to the hotel, we had Pad Thai, Chicken Satay (w/ Chicken Heart and Chicken Stomach), Mango and Glutinous Rice and fried fish cakes. We enjoyed the dinner thoroughly.
We decided to head back and went back for an early night, in anticipation for the next day’s early morning activities.
