Let The Memories Continue! – Day 10
Today is Black Friday and our shopping day.
Our first stop was to Walmart to grab more groceries and at the same time, Ashley wanted to look for MLP toys which she had been eyeing. Little did we expect that a simple trip in Walmart could take so long and ended up with a shopping trolley full of stuffs. We hurriedly paid for them and made our way to Downtown Disney for lunch.
After our memorable meal two days ago at Wolfgang Puck Express, we were determined to return to try their other delectable food. The road leading to Downtown Disney was terribly congested and we arrived famished. We ordered different dishes this time, Jarod had the Half Rotisserie Chicken, Ashley had the usual Macaroni & Cheese, ZA had Barbecued Chicken Pizza and I decided to try Spaghetti Bolognese. We all had the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake and Ashley chose her favourite cookie. Our server was really attentive and brought us endless drinks refills, parmesan cheese and hot sauce. The wood fired pizza was the favourite and the chicken tender and even the spaghetti was very nicely done. We savoured the Cheesecake and ZA hoped to return once more as he could not get enough of his pizza.
After lunch, we headed to the Premium Outlet Mall for more shopping. This time, it was bumper-to-bumper traffic and we inched forward slowly. It took us more than an hour to arrive at our destination and to our dismay, there was a long line of cars waiting to enter the carpark. ZA decided to park further across the road and walked over. The mall was brimming with people so much so that even the restroom has a long line. The discounts offered were enticing with some stores offering up to 50% + 40%!. As we did not have much time left for shopping, we prioritised and visited only selected stalls. We visited Kate Spade, Coach, Izod, Crocs, Skechers and The North Face. We managed to grab some things that we needed.
Time passes quickly and soon we had to leave for our dinner reservation – Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club. We were stuck, once again in a traffic jam and arrived half an hour late. However, the Disney cast members were ever so obliging and never failed to offer exemplary service. We checked in and were seated almost immediately. Cape May Cafe is an open and airy seafood buffet restaurant adorned with pastel impressionist paintings depicting beach scenes. The food offerings included Seafood Chowder, Snow Crab Legs, Steamed Clams, Clam Strips, Calamaris and Grilled Salmon which were all our favourites. Ashley who was a picky eater loved the Crab Legs as ZA busied himself digging out all the sweet crab meat for her, This was undoubtedly the best buffet on Disney property and would remain as our to-do restaurant should we ever return to Orlando.
After dinner, we took a stroll at the Beach Club Resort. It is a holiday tradition to have an edible gingerbread spinning carousel which includes ponies made of chocolate and fondant, hand-painted chocolate “Fab Five” Disney characters surrounded by snowflakes on the side of gingerbread and giant candy cane poles. How it’s created is worth mention. Pastry chefs use 100 pounds of icing, 50 pounds of dark chocolate and 36 pounds of honey. Also, 100 pounds of confectioner sugar and 96 pounds of bread flour go into the structure. It is truly an amazing and enchanting display. After this, we returned to our hotel for our much needed rest.
