Bali in June!
Yes, we’ll be going to Bali during the June holidays!
We had initially no plans for the holidays as it is just too difficult trying to schedule a vacation to accommodate ZA, Jarod and Ashley’s schedule. ZA has just taken on a new assignment; Jarod was supposed to go to Hong Kong for a choir competition and Ashley’s classes were ongoing during the holidays except for a weekend. I was still hoping to do a short trip possibly to either Genting, Desaru or Malacca. However, I was not so keen to drive to Malaysia after watching all the horror robbery videos, we kind of ruled them out altogether.
As it turns out, Jarod decided he did not want to go on his choir trip. He did not want to train for the same 3 songs he had been training for the Rhapsody XI in March. So, besides working around ZA’s work schedule, we can go on a short vacation. We were considering travelling to Perth to escape the hot weather here but this would exceed our budget. So, we started exploring Hong Kong, Bali, Phuket, Bangkok as well as Batam/Bintan. Then, we chanced upon a Groupon offer for a Bali villa with a private plunge pool which looked so good. We have not been to Bali before and thought we should give it a try after hearing people raving about their Bali trips. We naturally thought the cheapest way to fly was via the budget airlines but while playing around the Qatar website, I found a promotion to fly to Bali which beats all the budget airlines prices. So we booked our tickets for 22 June to 26 June. The total price for 3 adutlts and 1 child was SGD700!
Next, we had to decide where to stay in Bali. We considered Seminyak, Nusa Dua and even Kuta where Hard Rock Hotel is. The pools and water slides looked so good. However, we were put off by the congestion in Kuta. We finally decided on Courtyard By Marriott Nusa Dua. The room comes with 2 x Queen Beds which fits our needs. No concrete plans yet but we will probably like to try the white water rafting and go on a one day tour to Kintamani.
Bali, here we come!
