Oishii! – Japan Day 05

Day five of our Japan trip. Today, we headed over to Osaka station, which was right nearby Yodobashi Camera. This would be another trip outside Dotonbori, and we took great advantage of it to discover yet another Bowling alley, not far from the train station. Unfortunately, again, it was another fun-bowl center, and there wasn’t much of value for Ashley to look at. We stocked up on our C.C Lemon sodas and moved on.

Next, we headed to another taiyaki stall nearby, and yet again, there is no custard flavour. Perhaps there isn’t enough demand generally for them. Just looking at SF and Ashley’s faces says everything about their level of disappointment at the lack of custard taiyakis.

After a whole hour looking for a famed Okonomiyaki place, I eventually gave up and we settled on a place that SF had researched before hand. Although it was pretty empty during the time when we ate, the quality of food was simply amazing, and they offered their own spin of Okonomiyaki with noodles, and I really enjoyed the experience.

Before heading back, we took the time to look at the HEP5 Shopping Center, and took the HEP-5 Ferries Wheel. Here, we can truly see the scale of the city, and how little we had really explored of the city. Osaka is a huge place, and what we have experienced so far is simply only the surface. Hopefully we can return another time and explore even more compared to our current trip here.

For dinner, we headed to Dotonbori, at a place that served up exclusive cuts of beef and steak, and was a pleasant experience. However, it was a little disappointing for Ashley as she did not really enjoy much of what was on offer at the shop. To make up for it, we hunted down one of the snacks that we just missed that she really wanted, a Pocky snack that had the Glico man advertising printed on it in huge print. After almost an hour of hunting, we finally found it and she was super happy! And before we close up this day, we also finally got through and bought a full roll of the Rikuro Swiss Roll. It was simply divine. If only we could have this back home.
