Da-Da-Da Da Nang
Da Nang, Vietnam 8 to 13June 2016
As I am writing, I am humming to this Silk Air radio commercial promoting Da Nang as one of its destinations. Although it was an old commercial (maybe back in 2002 / 2003), I can remember clearly how it went Da-Da-Da Da Nang, Da Nang, Da Nang … amidst waves lapping the shore in the background.Even Jarod remembers this commercial and soon Ashley begins humming to it too.
Never have I looked forward to a break as much after what had been a hectic first half of 2016. ZA was hospitalised for 2 weeks in March after suffering from Klebsiella Pneumoniae, followed by the passing of my grandmother just before SA1 began for Ashley. We had planned to visit Osaka and its neighbouring regions – Kyoto, Nara and Kobe in June but ditched it as we needed a relaxing holiday. Singapore Airlines kindly waived the cancellation of our redemption tickets. Instead, we will be headed to Da Nang from 8 to 13 June.
Da Nang came to mind while searching for a new holiday destination. It was still available for mileage redemption. Since we have been to Bali and Phuket, we thought we’ll give Da Nang a try. We have not been to Vietnam and were wowed by the 2 bedroom beachfront pool suite at Angsana Lang Co, which is nestled in the foothills of the “Truong Son” mountains and looks out over a magnificent sandy beach. Lang Co is in Thua Thien-Hue Province in the district of Phu Loc, Central Vietnam. It is also a good base to visit three UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the charming old town of Hoi An, imperial city of Hue and My Son’s Cham Kingdom Sanctuaries. We will be flying to Da Nang International Airport and thereafter, take a complimentary shuttle service to the resort which is about 55km away.
