An 8static Birthday Party!
Ashley’s 8th Birthday Party – BBQ Under The Stars @ Port Of Lost Wonder 2 May 2015
The day that Ashley has been counting down to has finally arrived! It’s her birthday today!
We left for Smiling Orchid to collect the birthday cake, We gasped as the lady brought out the box. The cake was really pretty with the pastel Lego bricks made of icing sugar.Ashley was so pleased with it.
Ashley has her usual Saturday classes to keep her occupied till the party. We decided to set off early for Sentosa, knowing that it could be crowded due to the ongoing Ukulele Festival. Our decision was right as the car park was packed and we were lucky to find a lot. We arrived at about 5.15pm in glorious weather and proceeded to the curios counter located outside Port of Lost Wonder. The crews there were efficient and had our guest list with them and we were issued tags for admission to BBQ Under The Stars. POLW is a fun water playground for kids and it closes at 6.30pm daily before it turns dark. Once a month, it hosts the BBQ Under The Stars event which promises a beautiful experience of the port at night.
POLW has graciously assigned the Celebration Island for our party and we wasted no time in setting the place up. A crew soon arrived with the pink and purple balloons I have ordered and tied them to the tables. Coincidentally, the cake cutting table had a purple table cloth which was perfect for the Lego Friends theme.
Our guests arrived soon and we gathered them for cake cutting to the BFF song. We planned to do this first before we let the kids run off to the pirate ship. Otherwise, it would have been an uphill task to gather them as they scatter all over the pool area. As we lit the candles, complete with a special numbered sparkler candle, we sang Ashley the birthday song in English, followed by Mandarin. Thereafter, she made a long and intense wish. I hoped I knew what she had wished for!

The kids wasted no time and disappeared into the nicely lit pirate ship.
We really liked the ambience of the place. It felt very relaxing hearing the splashing of the water and laughter of the kids while the aroma of BBQ filled the air. The buffet was a glorious spread – salad, bread roll, mushroom soup, spaghetti, sausages, beef rump, potatoes, mini burgers, chicken wings, fruits, ice cream and candy floss!
The crews were wonderful. They came by often to ask if everything was alright and if we needed anything. The beverage order came with free flow Coke and Sprite and the crews constantly topped up the drinks and ensured that we had ice. The service was impeccable! There was also a movie screening of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and a foam party which we did not check out. There were lifeguards stationed around the pool to keep the kids safe while the adults enjoyed the dinner in peace.
We did not manage to capture many photos as it was too difficult to keep up with the energetic kids. I wondered how the crew managed to locate Ashley at the pirate ship and took her picture for the complimentary POLW membership.
Towards the end of the evening, we were presented with the membership card as well as a gift from them as token. It was a really nice gesture. As the day draws to a close, Ashley presented the goody bags to her friends.

The boys were not left out.
Thank you all for making Ashley’s birthday an unforgettable one in the company of all our good friends. We had an enjoyable evening!
